DFG Research project SFB TRR341

PFLANZE * UMWELT * KLIMA * INTERAKTION (PUKI)

(01/23)

We research the adaptations of plants to their environment:

● Can plants adapt quickly enough to climate change?

● How do plants in the city cope with extreme environmental conditions?

● Can ecological research contribute to plant-friendly cities?

We will provide information on how you can become part of our citizen science project and help answer these questions!

CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECT

(01/23)

The citizen science (CS) project is called PUKI (Pflanze-Umwelt-Klima-Interaktion), which is an abbreviation standing for the interaction between plants, environment and climate. It is a public outreach project that aims to develop and carry out research activities aligned to the goals of the CRC TRR 341 (TRansRegional Collaborative Research Center 341).

PUKI aims to create a highly collaborative and vibrant community of interconnected scientists and citizen scientists, thereby increasing expertise and enthusiasm as well as scientific exchange.

NEW RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

(01/23)

We welcome Dr. Bruno Walther to our team, who from January 2023 will take over the position of a research associate. He will be responsible for the coordination and project management of the Citzizen Science project as part of the CRC TRR341.

In this "Citizen Science" project, pupils, students, institutions in the education sector and interested citizens are to be involved in the monitoring of wild plants, for example.

NEW RESEARCH PROJECT IN PLANT RESEARCH

(06/22)

The SFB/Transregio (TRR 341) "Ecological Genetics of Plants", a collaborative project of different universities and institutes, will investigate the different abilities of certain plant species to adapt to global environmental changes such as limited resources, abiotic stress or competition with other plants.

Spokesperson: Prof. Dr. Juliette de Meaux, University of Cologne
Co-spokesperson: Prof. Dr. Maria von Korff Schmising, HHU Düsseldorf

An important aspect of this research project is the involvement of citizens in research. In the "Citizen Science" project, supervised by Prof. Dr. Petra Bauer, Institute of Botany/HHU, pupils, students, institutions of the educational sector and interested citizens are to be involved in the monitoring of wild plants, for example.
