A NEW STAR IS BORN ...

Public debates on climate change and recent environmental disasters such as floods and forest fires have drawn attention to current environmental changes, which include ecosystem transformation, among many other aspects. It is obvious that in such circumstances, biodiversity is at stake.

This "Citizen Science" project aims to involve schoolchildren, students, educational institutions and interested citizens in monitoring wild plants, their characteristics and their distribution. The aim is to observe plants, collect data on habitat of origin, plant phenotypes and distribution, and provide material for genomic DNA and PCR-based genotyping data.

This will raise awareness and understanding of the importance of plants to ecosystem functioning, the various challenges and threats that plants face in the face of rapid anthropogenic change, and, in particular, the role that genetics plays in plant adaptation to these changing environments.
