Global nutritional food security and iron biofortification

Plant iron homeostasis is important for nutritional food security and agroecological systems in challenging environments, such as in semi-arid regions with alkaline-saline soil or in tropical regions with acidic soils.

Iron biofortification of crops can help combat iron deficiency anemia caused by malnutrition in humans, especially in the Global South.

Collaborations with SSA countries and India focus on pulse.
